Cataract Surgery

What is a Cataract?

Cataract microsurgery painlessly removes the clouded lens and replaces it with an artificial lens implant to restore vision. The operation is performed with a topical anesthetic eye drop and usually takes less than 15 minutes. The surgery is done on an outpatient basis. The most modern method of removing a cataract is the extracapsular method. This technique removes the cloudy lens material from inside it's capsule. At Eye Surgicenter we use the most advanced technology to accomplish this by utilizing phacoemulsification, a process by which a highly sophisticated ultrasonic tip is inserted through a very small incision to emulsify the clouded portion of the lens and subsequently suction out this material from the capsule. The capsule is then left inside the eye.

GuruDrishti Nethralaya offers state-of-the-art small incision surgery with phacoemulsification and implantation of a foldable Intraocular Lens. Cataract surgery in combination with other surgeries like Glaucoma surgery, Corneal transplant, and Vitreoretinal surgeries are also performed in the same sitting.
Premium IOLs like Aspheric IOL, Aspheric-with-blue light filtering IOLs, Toric IOLs and Multifocal IOLs are available.

With Advanced Refractive Cataract Surgery, many cataract patients can have better vision after surgery than they had before they developed a cataract. The surgery is the same, but the lenses used in our Advanced Refractive Cataract Surgery offer exciting possibilities for better vision. GuruDrishti Netralaya is dedicated to providing the latest (and safest) technological advancements for Advanced Refractive Cataract Surgery to increase your potential of regaining your full range of vision, including reading vision. Utilizing multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) over 90% of patients are completely glasses free following Advanced Refractive Cataract Surgery. Careful patient selection is necessary to determine which patients are good candidates for a multifocal IOL. For those who are not candidates, GuruDrishti Netralaya offers more advanced high definition monofocal IOLs, either an aspheric IOL that provides superior vision under dimmer light conditions or a toric IOL that corrects astigmatism thereby again reducing or eliminating the need for glasses for distance.
